Biography
Nolde Banziger was born in 1946 in Zurich, Switzerland. After his education and vocational training in business and administration, he worked until the age of 29 in various commercial enterprises. At the end of this period, he managed the Bang Bang, a famous nightclub in Zurich.
In 1975, he felt it was time to completely overhaul his life and follow his inner calling, to become an artist. In painstaking, auto didactic self training, he acquired step by step the skills and techniques of a painter. His fascination pointed towards photo realism with surrealistic motifs. At the beginning of the 1990’s he started to create three dimensional images into which he often integrated his ability as a painter.
His breakthrough in terms of international recognition came with an impressive exhibition in 1983 at the then famous Soho gallery West Broadway. From then until today, Banziger’s works are enjoying an ever increasing and enthusiastic reception among collectors and art critics in the United States and Europe.
Nolde Banziger is a citizen of both Switzerland and the United States. He lives and works in the picturesque artists’ town of Pietrasanta in Tuscany, Italy, as well as in Manhattan’s Union Square neighborhood.
